Little, Ph. D., P.E., is an expert in the use of lime in soil stabilization. He is currently the holder of the E.B. Snead endowed chair in Transportation Engineering in the Civil Engineering Department of Texas A&M University. He teaches courses in the areas of soil stabilization, aggregate technology, asphalt technology and structural pavement design. He is a senior research fellow at the Texas Transportation Institute and the associate director of the International Center for Aggregates Research. Professor Little has concentrated on research to improve soil stabilization and modification, aggregate mix design and analysis procedures. David Levin, Consultant, is a Board Certified Safety Professional with 26 years experience in occupational health and safety. Mr. Levin will speak on the topics of Tool Box Safety Training: keeping employees safe, the importance of pre-planning, and hazard awareness. Mr. Levin has specialized in helping business owners to identify and successfully negotiate their health and safety hazards and control costs associated with unfortunate workplace injuries. Mr. Levin is an advocate of developing measurable activities that improve safety performance. He holds a bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety from Iowa State University and has recently been certified as an instructor for the OSHA Construction Outreach Program. Jeff Short of Krazan & Associates is the Northern California Regional Manager with oversight of the geotechnical engineering, environmental and the special inspection departments. Over the last 20 plus years Mr. Short has been involved with all types of geotechnical studies including ground stabilization techniques and the testing involved to determine corect compaction levels. Mr. Short will discuss field work, results and what to do if the results are not accurate.
