Elton Chorney, plant manager at Graymont’s Indian Creek plant, has won the 2006 National Lime Association Boynton Award. The award is given for the most outstanding paper at the National Lime Association’s Operating Meeting. Elton’s presentation, An Energy Efficiency Case Study, outlined measures that have been taken at the Indian Creek plant to improve energy efficiency. Significant energy savings have been achieved through reduction of air leaks throughout the lime kiln system, through improvements in kiln refractory, and through improvements in other plant equipment.
