(October 5, 2006, Bellingham WA)
On October 5, the employees of the Tacoma plant hosted a tour for the seventh grade chemistry class, their teacher and a few parents from Whatcom Hills Waldorf School in Bellingham WA. The students have been studying the lime life cycle and had actually built their own kiln at their school where they were able to calcine a small amount of stone and then mix the calcium oxide with water to see the chemical reaction.
Tacoma's plant manager Paul Liner orchestrated a program including a colorful presentation of Graymont and its products using the trade show booth, a safety orientation, a tour of the facility and lunch accompanied by a Q&A session. The students were truly treated as VIP's and the Tacoma staff is to be congratulated for their enthusiastic hospitality and memorable educational support to these future members of the work place.
