Faulkner Plant Celebrates 5 Year Safety Achievement

Faulkner, October 25, 2007 – Graymont’s Faulkner Plant is proud to be able to report, as of October 18, 5 years of no lost time incidents at the plant. This is an extremely noteworthy achievement, and according to Jim McPherson, QA Supervisor and Safety Rep, can be credited to the “safety culture” that has evolved, active participation of all the employees and the proactive involvement of the safety committee. The plant safety committee holds monthly safety meetings with a roundtable discussion of a specific topic, followed by general discussions on current issues. Also, a safety bulletin board provides information and an opportunity for employees to log safety concerns. Part of the “safety culture” is the understanding that any suggestions or concerns will always receive prompt attention. To celebrate this latest five year marker, employees were treated to a luncheon which was attended by Bill Dodge and members of the Board of Directors.

Graymont takes a long term view of its business and the lime industry and is looking forward to continuing its work in Faulkner, Manitoba, and in so doing, improving our environment, contributing to the community as a good neighbor and adding value as a responsible business partner.
