The third largest producer of lime in North America discovered Millard County, UT 30 years ago and has been an integral part of the local community ever since.
Construction of the Cricket Mountain plant began in February 1980 beginning operations in June of that year. On Monday, Oct. 11, Graymont honored nine employees who just completed 30 years of service to the company. They include Lewis Dutson, John Frampton, Duane Rowley, and Allen Alldredge Kiln Operators, Rondo Grimshaw Driller Blaster, Lee Morris Production Supervisor, Michael Palmer Maintenance Supervisor, David Peterson Maintenance Mechanic, and Tom Valerio Loader Operator. All were treated to a steak dinner as part of the recognition of the dedicated service.
Graymont has 61 full-time employees at the Cricket Mountain plant.
The Cricket Mountain plant is one of the largest most modern and efficient lime plants in the Western U.S. High quality limestone and dolomite are quarried in the Cricket Mountains, six and one half miles west of the plant. The limestone is crushed and sized at the quarry and delivered to the plant by truck. The stone is then processed in four modern, coal fired, pre-heater rotary kilns.
Kiln #4 at Graymont’s Cricket Mountain plant can produce approximately 1200 tons of lime per day. When all four kilns are running the output is nearly 2700 tons per day. A fifth kiln is under construction.
The plant manufactures a full range of bulk high calcium and dolomitic quicklime, and crushed and pulverized limestone products. The plant has blending facilities capable of producing precise blends for a number of applications, including use by the steel industry. Storage and shipping facilities are designed to provide a reliable source of supply to both truck and rail serviced customers.
Because we are the lowest cost producer in Graymont we ship to Illinois, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and many states in the western US.
Graymont is the third largest producer of lime in North America with facilities across Canada and the United States and a partnership with Grupo Calidra, the largest lime producer in Mexico.
